This is the electric meter from Iskra Typ MT 175 which shall be read out.
On the top right between the ring are the fotodiod and LED for the optical interface. The communication is DIN EN 62056-21 conform.

Protocol

Enabling UART on Raspberry

  1. Open /boot/config.txt
    sudo nano /boot/config.txt
  2. Add lines at the end of config.txt
    # Enable UART
    enable_uart=1
  3. Save /boot/config.txt
  4. Open /boot/cmdline.txt
    sudo nano /boot/cmdline.txt
  5. Remove console=serial0,115200
  6. Save the file
  7. Reboot your Raspberry
    sudo reboot
  8. Disable serial-getty service
    sudo systemctl disable serial-getty@ttyS0.service
